Mr. Sooty is available to attend weddings to wish the bride and groom every success in their married life. He will usually meet the bride and groom as they leave church or registry office, to ensure that luck is passed onto them as soon as their vows have been exchanged. Of course he can make his appearance at any point during the festivities after the vows have been exchanged.

 

As part of his appearance, Mr. Sooty will play his music, read his poem and give the married couple his gifts of a scroll, coal and piece of silver for the bride.

 

This tradition goes back some 300 years and will bring luck and fortune to the newly weds.

 

As can be seen from the photos, he really is a talking point at any wedding, and helps to lighten the proceedings.

 

Although primarily available throughout Ireland, Mr. Sooty has attended weddings throughout Europe and the U.S.
